Uneasy Lies the Head
Exceptional beauty with fitting intellect but like so many of Marta Sarkad’s children possessed somewhat of dark introspective mood. She was married off very young to Catapan Partanos, an amazingly good match for the family of an upstart client king. Unfortunately, distinguished Catapan died, barely few months after their nupitals and lady Gertruda returned to the islands. Second marriage to an allied family in Fesjavar likewise ended in tragedy with the groom, man in prime of his life died in a tragic hunting incident. Third – to a son of one of the original companions of king Godor – now enobled as a baron – lasted two years and resulted in two children before husband drowned in a freak storm while crossing to one of the neighboring islands. Thrice widowed at the age of 22, Gertruda was confirmed in possession of her last husband’s estates and pensioned off as unmarriageable.
