Isla Malarta

Island of 13000 square miles, principal island of Milliuri Archipelago, located in the north east of the archipelago.
Island is dominated by Ungevi volcanic range which rise approximately nine thousand feet above the sea level at the highest peak. Capturing the significant and frequent oceanic storms, island is rich in fresh water with numerous creeks and rivers cutting Lower Ungevi into countless valleys, frequently isolated from each other. Rivers eventually accumulate into two major water-systems. Western system feeds the Arvil river which eventually leaves the mountains and meanders through the fertile flood plain of western Malarta into an extensive sandy delta.
Other water system accumulates in Rittersee, largest of a series of lakes in north-eastern foothills of Ungevi before cascading down magnificent Hieretten Falls towards the sea.

Principal settlements on the islands are Al-Thasdun, city of over 20.000 inhabitants, some fifty miles south of Arvil delta, Aramviso with about 9.000 in sheltered north west and Neu Armstaadt on Rittersee in the north east with about 6.000 people. There are about half dozen other towns, mostly in the west and south-west of the island with combined population of approximately 17.000 people.

Estimated population of the island is approximately 650.000 of whom roughly 380.000 Native Donni Inhabitants, split roughly evenly between mountain tribes and lowland settlement, 125.000 southerners, mostly in and south of Arvil valley on the west coast, 85.000 recent imperial settlers and about 60.000 identifiable descendants of original imperial settlers (recognized by adherence to antiquated Karhtenian religious practices).

As of island is politically divided into four regions.

Emirate of Al-Thasdun, successor to the Myrh Emirate stretches roughly from Arvil flood-plane in the north to Saranti badlands in the south-east and from southern and western Ungevi foothills to the sea. It is most densely populated and richest of the island polities.

Sarkad Kingdom is centred on the northern shore of the island but through feudal system, it extends control through valleys, much deeper then the emirate into the Ungevi range.

Palatinate of Maan is a semi-dependancy of Sarkad Kingdom run as a military-religious order by the Karthenian Order of Watchers working closely with ancient castellanate of Rogebok. Palatinate has no navigable port with core of its territories in north-eastern highlands. Its territory is extended through several fortified chapter houses holding small territories elsewhere in the island (and throughout wider archipelago).

While officially claimed by one or more of the three polities, about two thirds of the island by surface area, primarily mountain and badlands, is in fact subject only native tribes. Among those, however, there is no political unity and while they do seem to follow some concepts of common law they are as likely to be fighting each other at any given time as to be resisting the outsiders.
